Scholarships and State/Vocational Rehabilitation Grants

Donor-Funded Scholarships

As part of the total financial aid package, scholarships funded by clubs, organizations, individual donors, and foundations are awarded annually.

  • Eligibility: Students must meet the scholarship criteria and have a current FAFSA on file. The Financial Aid Office may also consider additional data points to determine eligibility.

  • Application Process: Students do not need to apply individually for these scholarships. The FAFSA serves as the scholarship application, and the Financial Aid Office matches applicants with scholarships based on donor intent and other established criteria.

  • Award Administration: Scholarships are awarded according to the donor’s specifications and are applied directly to tuition, fees, or other eligible charges.

  • Scholarship Management Platform: Gallaudet University may use a platform called AwardSpring to identify students eligible for scholarships. AwardSpring can also be used to replace existing institutional aid if appropriate.

State Grants and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Assistance

Some states provide need-based grants and scholarships to undergraduate students. Additionally, students receiving state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) support should notify the Financial Aid Office to ensure proper coordination with other financial aid.

  • Information and Application: Students should contact their state department of education or regional VR counselor to explore available funding options. The Financial Aid Office can assist with coordination and verification of these awards
