Program Overview: The FSEOG is a grant awarded by Gallaudet University to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need, as determined by the FAFSA-generated Student Aid Index (SAI).
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a degree-seeking program
Must be enrolled at least half-time (6+ credit hours)
Must be eligible for a Pell Grant
Award Amounts: Awards typically range from $100 to $4,000 per academic year, depending on individual need and available institutional and federal funding.
Application Requirement: Students must have a current FAFSA on file. FSEOG eligibility is determined after Pell Grant eligibility is confirmed, as FSEOG is awarded in coordination with Pell Grant funding.
Disbursement and Use of Funds:
FSEOG funds are applied to tuition, mandatory fees, and standard on-campus room and board charges first.
Any remaining credit is refunded to the student according to federal regulations.
Federal regulations govern the timing and order of disbursement, which is typically after the Add/Drop period.
Coordination with Other Aid: Receiving other federal, state, or institutional aid may affect the FSEOG award to prevent overawards.
Limitations: Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible students with the greatest financial need.
