AVC 207 FILM + VIDEO: Film Analysis + Critical Viewing
This course introduces students to film history, theory, and methods of visual analysis. Students learn how films communicate meaning through cinematography, editing, sound, performance, and narrative structure. Screenings and discussions emphasize critical viewing skills and visual literacy. The course connects analysis to practice, helping students understand how critical interpretation informs creative decision-making. Attention is given to diverse filmmakers, global cinema, and visual storytelling traditions relevant to Deaf and minority perspectives.
