AVC 201 Critical Practices in Arts + Design
This course introduces students to critical analysis, visual literacy, and professional documentation practices across art and design disciplines. Students learn to evaluate visual work and communicate constructive feedback in written English and American Sign Language (ASL) using appropriate artistic vocabulary and ethical standards. The course also introduces digital photography and basic documentation techniques, including lighting, composition, and file organization, to support professional presentation of creative work. Through structured critiques, revision processes, and selected readings in contemporary art and visual culture, students develop critical thinking skills and professional communication practices necessary for all AVCD specializations.
