AVC 101 Modern + Contemporary Art

This foundation course introduces students to major developments in modern and contemporary art from the Late 19th century to the present. The course analyzes painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, and films, and explores emerging visual practices within historical, social, cultural, and technological contexts. The emphasis is on understanding how modern art movements, materials, and ideas shape contemporary visual culture. Field trips to galleries, museums, and related institutions may supplement the course. This course prepares students for the upper-level coursework in specialization tracks.
