TRS 250 Translation Models and Theories for ASL–English Translators
This course examines major models and theories of translation from both the spoken and signed language fields. Students will explore the concepts of transliteration, literal/formal/verbatim versus dynamic versus functional and free approaches to translation and apply them to ASL–English translation tasks. Students will learn how theoretical frameworks guide decision-making and the rendering of meaning across modalities.
