LIN721 Cognitive Linguistics: Multisemiotic Analysis
Face-to-face signed language use is multisemiotic in that different modes of semiosis are employed via manual and non-manual items: plain description, pointing, and depiction. This course introduces students to the analysis of these semiotic modes in ASL using approaches within cognitive linguistics and neighboring frameworks.
