PHI 210 Science Fiction Philosophy
Science fiction provides great opportunities to consider the nature of reality and our
knowledge of it. This course will use sci-fi stories and philosophical readings to address questions such as: Could the world be a computer simulation? What transformations can one undergo, yet still be the same person? Is it possible for machines to think for themselves? Would time-travel endanger history and human freedom?
