Need-Based and State Aid – Graduate Students

Gallaudet University offers limited need-based financial aid to degree-seeking graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. These awards may help with tuition, mandatory fees, and campus-based living expenses.

Graduate students are generally not eligible for Grant-in-Aid awards, except for summer session aid if eligible and if funds remain available. Financial need is determined solely from FAFSA information.

Students receiving Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) support should notify the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible. Failure to report VR support promptly may result in overawarding, which could create a balance on the student account if funds must be reversed to maintain compliance.

Need-based awards may be coordinated with other scholarships to maximize available funds, and any remaining funds may support summer session grants for eligible students. Funds are applied directly to tuition, fees, and campus-based living charges following the University’s standard disbursement schedule.

For information about state grants, students should contact their state department of education or their regional VR counselor.
