Au.D. in Audiology
The Doctor of Audiology program aims to train students to become audiologists who can provide culturally sensitive care in all diagnostic and rehabilitative settings, serving individuals of all ages. The program offers an intensive, broadly based academic curriculum and an integrated sequential clinical experience that starts in the first semester, culminating in the final year with a full-time immersive externship experience.
Multicultural issues are infused into all aspects of the program, by the faculty and clinical educators from diverse backgrounds. A unique aspect of cultural understanding at Gallaudet is American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture - students gain both didactic and immersive experiences in the language, culture, and biopsychosocial considerations. All AuD students are required to complete up to ASL III and meet the requirements of the Graduate-Level Inclusion and Diversity Education (GLIDE) program.
The Clinical Doctoral Degree (AuD) education residential program in Audiology at Gallaudet University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.
