PST 213 Black Deaf History 1818 - 1890 (3)
This course examines the presence of Black Deaf people in Deaf history,
beginning with the first student to receive a formal education at a school for the
Deaf. Starting with a theoretical survey of the condition of being a black person
during slavery, Reconstruction era and colonialism, the course concludes with a
discussion of the Reconstruction era decision to provide education for Black
Deaf students in the South.
